Dragonette at Brooklyn Bowl
Last night I saw a fantastic show at the Brooklyn Bowl. Dragonette is a dance/pop band that I discovered on emusic and have been a big fan of for awhile. I bought tickets online for $5 a pop but because we got there so early, no one asked for our ticket. This is good to note for future reference if I feel like being a cheapskate.
Now I don’t usually frequent Brooklyn, but I have been venturing there more of late. This was my second time at the Brooklyn Bowl and my first time partaking of the menu there. The food menu is so much fun. It is mostly things you can share like fried chicken, french bread pizza and sandwiches. The BBQ chicken wings were totally delish! Add that to the local beer and wine and you have a great combination!
The space is huge and while you can bowl, it is pretty expensive and there can often be a wait. Instead we sat at a table and got some food and waited for the show to begin. Class Actress opened, and she was good. Dragonette was fabulous. She had so much energy and there was a small light show happening behind her. Dragonette’s songs are mostly about sex and money and having a good time. I like that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She did shots on stage and even took an audience member’s camera and took a picture of herself while she was singing.
I hope Dragonette returns to Manhattan sometime soon, but until she does, the Brooklyn Bowl is a pretty awesome place to hang out!
