The Campbell Apartment
I have been celebrating all week and it has been great! A friend of mine suggested we head to The Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Station for drinks on a rainy Monday. I had never been to the Campbell Apartment, but I am always down to try a good cocktail!
The Campbell Apartment is an upscale bar located on the balcony level of Grand Central Station. As far as I can tell, you have to enter directly from the street, not through the station itself. Once we were seated at the bar my friend told me it is the famous bar where Nate and Serena hooked up on the very first episode of Gossip Girl. I will admit that this place seems WAY to classy to allow something so low brow to occur in real life, however.
We ordered the specialty cocktails including the Prohibition Punch (yummy), the Berry Royale and the Flapper’s Delight. All of the drinks were expertly made by handsome bar men. We also ordered a cheese plate which took a little while to get to us, but once it did, was large and delish. The ambiance is really the whole reason to stop here, though. From the moment you walk in it seems you are in old time New York. Dark oak and soft lighting surrounds you and even the ceiling is ornately decorated. Sneakers and torn jeans are not allowed in, and you will probably feel out of place if you aren’t slightly dressed up. Men in suits sip scotch you can’t afford and ladies in pearls deliver the drinks.
All in all it was a fabulous experience and I can’t wait to go back. I hear the decorations at Christmastime are very fun, so I will keep you posted.
