Little Boots at Highline Ballroom
Last night I saw a fantastic show. Little Boots came to Highline Ballroom. Her appearance coincided with the U.S. release of her album. I bought tickets way back in December because they were so cheap and because I had gotten a copy of her album off the internet and was already hooked.
But first, let me address the opening acts. When I walked in a few minutes past eight the Brooklyn band, Body Language was already on stage. I was surprised by how good they were. Usually the first band at these shows is lacking, but Body Language had it going on. The random stranger next to me and I talked about how great they were and how we wanted their album. After Body Language came Class Actress. I saw Class Actress open for Au Revoir Simone a few months ago and I really liked her then. I think she had more energy at the ARS concert, but she was still great. The lead ups to Little Boots definitely impressed me.
Right before Little Boots took the stage we decided to get a table upstairs. If you want to pay for food, Highline has some seating available and you can see really well from most of the seats. Usually I love sitting, but I think I really missed dancing during Little Boots set. She put on an incredible show. There were fabulous laser lights, which she said they had never been able to afford before so she was having a great time playing with them. Little Boots wore a couple of crazy costumes and masks that suggested she had taken a card from Lady Gaga. Her energy level was incredible and it was impossible to not dance when she sang Remedy. Remedy was, without a doubt, one of the best songs I have ever heard live at a show. Bottom line, if you like British pop/dance music check out the album and if Little Boots is coming to your town, it is definitely worth getting a ticket!
