Brunch at Bubby’s!

A few weeks ago I went out with my hubby to enjoy my favorite of all meals… BRUNCH! Brunch is a New York tradition on the weekends and I love trying out all of the city’s great spots for this wonderful meal. Bubby’s is one of our old standbys. It is great for impressing out-of-town guests as the food is always amazing and the restaurant appeared in The Devil Wears Prada. (It should be noted that I like to impress guests with my knowledge of where scenes were filmed throughout the city.) We didn’t have any guests, thankfully, so we went alone, which is always fun.

Bubby’s is a comfort food restaurant with no attitude but utterly fabulous food. They even make their own sodas in house, which I find extremely interesting and unique. Either my husband or I always have to order the Sourdough pancakes because they are so delish and you can only get them on weekends. The daily specials are usually pretty amazing as well.

We had to wait about thirty minutes for our table, which is normal on a weekday unless you go really early. The food was well worth the wait. The cheese grits and fried green tomatoes were outstanding and I can’t wait to go back soon. Bubby’s has just announced that they stay open all night 5 days a week. I am hoping to try it out late night and see if I love this place at three in the morning too.

UPDATE 12/5/09: I just had brunch at Bubby’s today (sourdough pancakes with a side of bacon, YUM!) and I was reminded what a great place it is to star hunt. I have seen several celebrities there in the past, including Nathan Lane and John Lithgow (separately), but we hit the jackpot today when Jason Bateman walked in with his family when Amanda Peet came to join them. Delicious food and celebrity spotting makes for a perfect place to take out-of-towners.
