Shells at Joe’s Pub

Shells Show
I made dinner reservations for Sunday evening so we would be sure to have seats. We were in the back, but the tables there are raised so it was still a good seat. And Shells is a very interactive performer, so if you don’t like to be called out it is better to be in the back where she can’t see you. I had a glass of wine with Shells, who drinks Yellowtail red wine throughout her performance, and I ate Joe’s fabulous french fries while I watched.
Shells was very funny. She is a one-ish woman show. It is just her and Emily, her piano player on stage. It was an All Request Show, apparently you can email Shells and ask her to sing songs. She opened with Miami Sound Machine’s Rhythm is Gonna Get You and went on to sing others like Piano Man and Poker Face. I should mention that Shells is not a fabulous singer, but what she lacks in talent she makes up for in energy and commitment. She always discusses her relationship with her “boyfriend,” Scott, a man she slept with once 2 years ago and whom she continues to stalk. Her delusions keep the crowd laughing, and that is really the point of the show.
