The Happy Sad at The Public Theater
The Summer Play Festival (SPF) is happening from July 7, 2009 until August 2, 2009. Tickets to all of the plays and musicals are only $10 and they take place at the Public Theater. I went to see The Happy Sad last week. It was a play where the actors sang occasionally. The plot line involved seven people trying to make their relationships work. It was general seating, but my husband and I managed to score the last two front row seats even though we didn’t get there very early.
The cast in this show was outstanding. Some of the actors included Ari Graynor (the blonde, drunk girl from Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist), Maulik Pancholy (Sanjay from “Weeds” and Jonathan on “30 Rock”), and Eddie Kaye Thomas (the guy who sleeps with the cougar in the American Pie movies). I thoroughly enjoyed the acting in the play, even though I found the occasional bursts into song awkward. I would definitely like to see more of these great 10 buck plays!
