New York Giants vs. Cincinnati Bengals

I went to my first ever professional football game.  It was a beautiful day here in NYC and I loved spending it outside.  I got the tickets through my husband’s friend, who has season tickets.  This is a great way to do cheap or free things in New York City.  If you talk to people you will find that everyone has a different range of connections and interests.  This diversity makes New York great.  So my husband’s friend couldn’t use her tickets to the game and she gave them to us… Lucky us!

I have a general understanding of football, if not an in depth one.  I have always been a Redskins fan, but since the Skins weren’t playing I decided I would cheer for the Giants for the day.  The transportation was much easier than I expected.  New Jersey transit offers a cheap bus from Port Authority to the Meadowlands (where the Giants and the Jets play).  Two round-trip tickets on the bus cost only $20.  They had tons of buses ready to leave the city and there was no waiting.  On the way out the ride was only 15 or 20 minutes.  On the way back we got stuck in a lot of traffic, but we had seats on the bus and it was a comfortable ride.  If you go to the Meadowlands for a game I highly recommend this method of travel as it was so cheap and convenient.

The game was sold out and the fans were crazy, as expected.  The game was close, but the Giants ended up winning in overtime, so the majority of the fans went home happy.  For a one o’clock game we left at about 11:30 from Port Authority.  We were home by six.  It was a wonderful day to spend the last Sunday of summer.
